District Manager says Erie gets the Axe next year
Well we finally got the news we all expected from the start last night, we're screwed. The Western Pennsylvania district manager held three meeting over 2-22-12 to 2-23-12 with all the employees at the East 38th street P&DC confirming the AMP results that say the good ole PO will save oodles of money shutting down our plant. There was a glimmer of hope though. Instead of being in front of the line of closures, we could dodge the bullet until this time next year due to our long distance from another sorting facility. All bets are off though after May 15th and the end of the moratorium. If Congress doesn't pass legislation protecting overnight service by then or at least impose another moratorium, the Postal Service can begin the process of closures. To keep track of legislation specifically associated with preserving our Postal Service you can go here. Read the APWU response here and just today here.
